It’s summer once again and you have been planning for your camping trip almost for a year already. You already requested for a leave from your office same with your wife. School is out and your kids have been very excited for your camping trip. They have been talking nonstop about it.
You have already done your homework. You have chosen a good camping ground in an area beautifully surrounded by nature but still safe for your family. You also had your car checked by a professional mechanic just to make sure that it is in perfect running condition. But all of these preparations would be worth nothing if you don’t have the right camping equipment.
Naturally, having a good set of camping equipment should be the priority of any family that is planning a camping trip. Make sure that you have a tent that is big enough to accommodate everyone or if not, have a couple of tents ready for everybody. Your tent must be durable enough to withstand the elements just in case there’s strong wind or some precipitation, usually a drizzle of rain. It must also be tough enough not to be easily punctured or scratched.
Do you already have your sleeping bags ready? A set of camping equipment is not complete without comfortable sleeping bags. Make sure that they have proper insulation to keep you warm during the cold nights outdoors. Good outdoor clothing especially outdoor footwear is also vital.
And of course, don’t forget your cooking utensils including the portable stove. Buy only such tools that are designed specifically as camping equipment to make sure that they are meant to be used outdoors.
Going on a family camping trip should be planned many months before hand, part of that planning is deciding what season to go in, the season that is right for your family totally depends on your family so I will list some of the good and bad points of all four seasons so that you can choose the right one for your family.
These two seasons are in the middle for nearly everything, they are cooler then summer but hotter then winter (most of the time) and the days are longer then in the winter. Plus they are not as popular as summer so the camp grounds will not be as packed.

Tents come in many shapes and sizes so making sure that your tent is the right one for you is a very important decision and should not be taken lightly, most tents will last a good few years and you don’t want to go out and have to buy another a couple of months after you have already spent money on a camping tent. Tents come is a very large number of sizes and designs so getting the right one out of the bunch is going to be hard work, but if you take a moment a really think about it you will end up with the right tent. If you want the tent to go back packing with then a small lightweight tent would be perfect for you. But if you are going on a family camping trip then you are going to want to have a family sized tent so that you can fit everyone in. If you are more into camping or maybe even mountaineering then you want a camping tent that is both strong a versatile but not too heavy so maybe a little bit heavier then a tent for back packing but still not too heavy.
